The series of her work, “Myo-Won-Gyoung, (묘원경(猫源境),” has been described as an ideal world and
a comfortable shelter for the wounded soul. The title of “Myo-Won-Gyoung, (묘원경(猫源境)” originally
came from the Chinese tale, “Do-Wha-Won-Gi, (도화원기(桃花源記)” by “Do-Jam (陶潛:자는 淵明).”
Stella-Jo was struck with a passage describing an abandoned cat killed on the road, and she played with
Utopian ideas as a method of both confronting and denying ideas of mortality. This becomes a main theme
of her work as she creates an ideal shelter for the irritated soul. In the exhibition, she shows the allegorical
self-reflection of human, and seeks a painless paradise through her paintings.
